Man Accused Of Deliberately Infecting Male Lovers With HIV Arrested

A man accused of deliberately infecting male lovers with HIV has been arrested after five weeks on the run. Daryll Rowe, 26, has been charged with eight counts of causing GBH and one count of attempting to cause GBH in the Brighton area.

The hairdresser was arrested earlier this year but skipped bail in November, sparking a nationwide manhunt.

Edinburgh-born Rowe, of no fixed address, was finally found in Wallsend, North Tyneside, on Friday and is due in court tomorrow.

Health officials have urged anyone who may have had sex with Rowe to seek medical advice.

Sussex Police said in a statement: "Police investigating allegations that men were deliberately infected with HIV have now charged a man.

"Daryll Rowe was arrested in Brighton earlier this year. He failed to answer bail on November 18.

"He was arrested by Northumbria Police on December 23 after joint working by Northumbria Police, Police Scotland and Sussex Police.

"He has now been charged with eight counts of causing grievous bodily harm and one count of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

"Anyone who thinks they may have had a sexual encounter with this man is urged to come forward and anyone with concerns is encouraged to contact their local sexual health services."

Rowe has been remanded in custody to appear before Newcastle Crown Court tomorrow.
