See How Statue Of Jesus Christ Was Moved To Its New Home In Switzerland. Photos

This is the moment a 36-foot-tall statue of Jesus soared through the sky by a helicopter to new its hilltop home. The 2.4 tonne replica of Rio de Janeiro's famous Christ the Redeemer statue was lifted by helicopter to its new home on the Guschastein hill above Pfaefers, near St Gallen in eastern Switzerland.

The statue was previously resident in the nearby Swiss village of Bad Ragaz, where it stood atop a different mountain. But a local referendum was held in April which saw residents decide to boot the 2.4 tonne sculpture out, FM1Today reported.

Jesus will be allowed to stay in his new home next to the Wartenstein castle ruins for the next five years, perching more than 800 feet above the nearby valley, according to Swiss paper Tagblatt.
